Holiday Carepackages 2008

Once again, our holiday carepackages were a huge success this year. This was our second annual trip to Children's Hospital Boston in late December, and it was as powerful this time as it was the first year.

This year, we were able to create 30 individual care packages for each of the families in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). The carepackages were once again in a colorful tote with our group logo and website on the front. Each bag contained a folder with various local and regional resources, journals and pens, flip flops, toiletries, pain reliever, hand sanitizer, tissues, activity books, and plenty of snacks. In addition to the carepackages, we delivered five large boxes of toys, videos, DVDs, extra toiletries and books to both the Cardiac ICU and the Cardiac Step Down Unit on the 8th Floor.

Once again, due to the generosity of our members, friends, and families, each bag was overflowing with items. We would also like to extend a big thank you to the families of the Jefferson Elementary School In Franklin, Massachusetts for organizing a drive to collect items for this special delivery.

We would also like to thank the members who helped put together the carepackages and boxes. Pictures of the assembly process are included on this page. Another thank you to those members who helped deliver the items to Children's Hospital Boston on December 27, 2008. Unfortunately, due to privacy concerns, we were not able to take pictures of the actual delivery this year.
